Ways to be Outside Without Enduring the Heat
Although we definitely caught a break throughout the month of May, there’s no avoiding it now. The Arizona summer is in full effect now, but that doesn’t mean that you have to hibernate. Here are some ways to get out of the house while staying out of the heat.

If you live in Sun City, chances are you’re an avid golf fan. Getting out to the links may be too daunting during the summer months, but you can still keep your swing in good form by heading to Topgolf. With several driving range bays, you can get your fix and then head back inside for for a cool drink in front of several HD screens. With two locations in the Valley, you can get back in the swing of things in either Gilbert or Scottsdale. For more information, go to topgolf.com
Cool off in Westgate
The Westgate Entertainment District provides a great venue for shopping, dining and entertainment. Also the home of Gila River Arena and University of Phoenix Stadium, Westgate is just minutes away from historic downtown Glendale and his host to several events, including live music and family activities. This year, Westgate will also host the Westgate Firework Fest in celebration of Independence Day. For more info on this and other events, head to westgateaz.com.
Head for the Hills
When all else fails, get out of town for a bit. One of the great parts about Arizona is that the landscape is so diverse, you can be enjoying a cold drink at 7,000 feet in just a few hours. Downtown Flagstaff is home to several historic buildings, including the Monte Vista Hotel, which opened its doors in 1927 and is now a centerpiece of the downtown area, which has dozens of shops and restaurants. It’s also one block away from historic Route 66. While you’re there, have a freshly brewed cold beer at Mother Road Brewery.
We Arizonans are a tough breed. We know how to handle a little heat, but be sure to stay safe out there this summer and drink PLENTY of water!
